Forghedaboudit Pizza placed again at International Expo in Las Vegas, NV

DEMING – Bob and Kim Yacone are turning the International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas, NV into their personal playground. The couple from Forghedaboudit Authentic New York Italian Cuisine came away with another stellar baking performance to please the palettes on March 19-22.

Kim took third place for the best traditional pizza for the southwest and placed fourth in the world, with over 40 countries represented during the 34th annual international event.

“This is the Super Bowl of pizza,” said Bob Yacone upon the couples return to their Deming eatery located at 115 N. Silver Avenue. “Just to be here is enough of an honor, but to pick up back-to-back wins is surreal,” Kim said of the world-wide competition. Her New York spicy sausage won the event last year.

Bob placed 24th in the highly competitive non-traditional pizza category for his grilled shrimp, avocado and smoked bacon pie, sprinkled with Island Jerk seasoning, with imported Piave and Bacio cheeses, and topped with a lemon-lime zest and fresh basil.

“This was a tough division,” Bob said. “They wanted creative, but they paid no attention to practical. The winners could only make that pizza then and now. My pie you can make when ordered.”

There were 60 entries in the non-traditional in the world.

This competition followed last year’s southwest region championship in the traditional category and third in the U.S. and fourth overall in the world.

“The draw we have here in Deming is the character of our restaurant and the quality of our ingredients,” Bob said. “You come in here from the southwest and you leave will a little bit of the “Big Apple.”

Forghedaboudit is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, 3-9 p.m. on Saturdays and 3-8 p.m. on Sundays.

Forghedaboudit is the only restaurant in the United States with both first-place wins under one roof for wings and pizza.
